Poll Time!

I've decided to start a poll here at Gingermania! I think I'll do one every two weeks. That seems like it would give everyone enough time to vote.

Here's the question:
What is your favorite Ginger film made in 1930?

I was going to do it by decades, but that would be WAY too hard, as I couldn't even choose myself. So I decided to to it year by year and I'm starting with 1930 since that was the year she made her first full-length feature film.

I've only seen 3 of her 7 films made during this year, so I don't think I'm going to vote this time around. I want to give them all a fair chance! Except when I haven't seen only one (like when we get to 1932, the only one I haven't seen is Hat Check Girl), then I'll vote. This time I'll leave the voting up to all of you who have actually seen all of them. :)

EDIT: (9/20/2009) Honor Among Lovers was from 1931! Sorry for my typing error everybody! Please don't vote for that one and I'll include it in the 1931 movie poll. Thanks to jwalker for pointing out my mistake.

  1. Great poll! We were all trying to figure out how to do that, but were thinking of 'eras'...which would be WAY too hard to 'cull out' movies...this way, none are left out! I have seen all from 1930 except Sap (that one is 'en route' to me, tho) and Campus Sweethearts, which is not readily available, to my knowledge - it's a short, anyway, but should still count, in my book!
I went with Queen High, because the role seems to fit her - a young girl wanting to get out into the work force, and she played a few tunes in it. Young Man - she was cute in that, but as a ditzy flapper, it just didn't have the 'moxie' typical VKM roles have...although none from 1930 really did, as she was just getting cranked up.

BTW - Sorry to be a 'stickler'(among more nasty things), but 'Honor Among Lovers' is from 1931... it's hard to keep them all straight, honestly - and there are a few of hers which are 'disputed' as to its date - although the actual movie will have the date on there, some of them you just can't make out the blurred roman numerals (including my copy of H.A.L.).

  2. I count Campus Sweethearts, too! :)
I haven't seen Queen High yet, but there are some clips on YouTube and from what I've seen Ginger looks quite adorable in that one.

Ooops! I typed in the wrong year! How silly of me! Thanks for pointing that out!

  3. Well, looks like the pol won't let me edit it and take 'Honors' off the list. I guess I'll just include it in the next poll.

  5. Out of that list I've only seen Queen High and Office Blues (I've seen Honor Among Lovers but it doesn't apply here) so I don't think I'm fit to vote for this year! Cool poll though!

  6. ...OK, who voted for "Campus Sweethearts"?
More specifically, who has SEEN "Campus Sweethearts", followed closely by DOES ANYBODY ACTUALLY HAVE "CAMPUS SWEETHEARTS"??? Sorry...getting a bit anxious... if anyone knows the whereabouts of "Campus Sweethearts", please do tell... :-)

  8. ...Well, thanks for that info!!! I heard it is only available on the 'actual film' - 16mm or 32mm - but hopefully SOMEONE can get it to electronic format... :-) And, is it good enough to vote as top 1930 VKM film? Nice!
